How Justin Fulcher Built RingMD Across Southeast Asia

RingMD started without a name, a pitch deck or a formal company structure behind it. Justin Fulcher built the first working version alone, treating it as a hobby project rather than a business plan. Within months, the informal build had drawn attention from investors who recognized what he had already proven on his own, that the idea worked in practice, not just on paper. Fulcher incorporated the company in Singapore, a choice driven by practicality. The city offered an English-speaking, business-friendly base positioned close to the markets where demand for the platform ran highest.

Convincing a Skeptical Market

Patients embraced the idea quickly. In regions where seeing a doctor in person was often impossible, a video consultation felt transformative rather than convenient. Physicians proved harder to win over. Telehealth was still an unfamiliar concept to many providers, and Fulcher spent years building trust with medical professionals who had never worked with a digital platform before. That patience paid off gradually as more doctors joined and word spread through hospital networks across the region.

A Platform That Kept Expanding

The recognition followed the growth. In 2017, Microsoft named Fulcher a Data Culture Champion in Asia, and Forbes placed him on its 30 Under 30 Asia list at age twenty-five. By the time RingMD reached its peak, the platform held 1.5 million patient records and connected more than fifty countries through a network of 10,000 healthcare providers. Governments, hospital systems, insurers and pharmaceutical companies all became clients over time. Among the partnerships Justin Fulcher has pointed to with particular pride is the collaboration with India’s Digital India programme, an initiative aimed at extending essential services into rural communities that had previously gone without reliable healthcare access. What began as an unnamed prototype in Singapore had become infrastructure relied upon across an entire continent, built one skeptical doctor and one convinced hospital administrator at a time.
