Raffaele Riva

Raffaele Riva is famous for being able to quickly adapt his designs to meet the needs of clients. A few years after he started building, a developer asked him to build a large community in Saint Tropez. Raffaele quickly redesigned the project into something new: smaller buildings with less apartments, which were designed for vacationers who enjoy peace and quiet and privacy when on vacation.

Raffaele Riva Biography

Raffaele Riva was born in 1970 in Venice. Closing the door on his medical studies, he decided to devote himself to the construction industry. He became a well-known and sought-after architect that has built some of the most significant buildings in Europe, including Le Méridien St.-Tropez and La Rotonda dei Templi in Florence. But it is his love for architecture that has led him to work with several prestigious brands, such as Bentley or Zegna. Despite all this success, Raffaele is still very modest and lives alone with his wife and their two-year-old daughter.

An Unusual Journey

At 16, Raffaele Riva was a student at the University of Bologna when he decided to leave university before finishing his medicine degree. He had become increasingly interested in architecture and decided to devote himself to that instead. He began working as an intern for a young architect in Milan. After graduating from college, Raffaele took on various internships, gaining experience in the design field. In 1998, he founded his own company: A&R Studio Architectural Masterpieces. His reputation grew quickly thanks to his unique style, which he describes as “a reinterpreting of classical lines with a modern twist”. In a few years, he had worked on some of the most famous architectural projects in Europe, including Le Méridien St.-Tropez and La Rotonda dei Templi.

In 2003, Raffaele met Mr. Michael Zegna, of the famous Italian fashion house Zegna Couture. They became friends and started collaborating together. In 2004, they designed the interior of their first project: Villa Erba in Cernobbio (Lombardy), which was known as Villa Badoer at the time. They decided to change its name because it no longer belonged to a noble family named Badoer (at least at that time). Refer to this page for additional information.
