He made his money from two separate companies: PetroAmerica Inc. and Linn Energy LLC (Linn Energy Acquisition Corp.). Ross Perot Sr., who served as an independent candidate for President in 1992 and 1996.

Kelcy gave 500 thousand dollars towards Senator Ted Cruz’s 2012 Senate campaign. That same year he also gave another 100 thousand dollars to Republican Mitt Romney’s presidential campaign.
