Nick Millican Explores the Alternatives to London Living

Living in the U.K. capital is rewarding but expensive. Real estate expert Nick Millican has been exploring the benefits of moving out of London to the rural Cotswolds area. The Cotswolds became a popular option for commuters during the pandemic for its open spaces and quiet lifestyle.

He explains how the small towns of Oxfordshire became the most fashionable county for Londoners looking to escape the busy London lifestyle. Nick Millican explains the influx of Londoners to The Cotswolds has impacted many towns.

Despite the impact on house prices, Millican believes there is still value for money in many small market towns. The real estate agent points to Wantage as one of the few towns in The Cotswolds to offer value for money. The lack of a rail connection to London means Wantage has not been hit by the influx of residents escaping the capital. And for Nick Millican, this has played a vital factor.

Wantage is located in the spectacular landscapes of the Vale of the White Horse. A 17th and 18th-century town center includes cobbled streets and alleys that add to the charm of the market town. Nick Millican explains house prices have not risen as quickly as parts of Oxfordshire.

This, with homes rising by two percent during 2023. The average house remains affordable, with a 20-minute drive or bus ride to the nearest commuter train station. Nick Millican believes Wantage remains one of the hidden gems of Oxfordshire. Wantage is a stunning market town surrounded by some of the most beautiful landscapes in Oxfordshire.
