 Local Hyatt Regency collaborates with Academy of Art University

Hyatt Regency San Francisco Downtown SoMa recently collaborated with Academy of Art University.

As an integral part of the arts community, the hotel has helped to showcase the city’s arts culture.

Student and alumni art is displayed throughout the hotel in the form of landscape architecture, photography, sculpture, and painting.

The hotel is going through a rebranding and this project demonstrates the rebranding. As well as the hotel’s pledge to the arts.

In addition to the hotel’s suites and Regency club, the artwork is displayed in the reception area, bar and lounge area, and lobby on the ground floor. Throughout the property, the works of art are framed or mounted. This includes about 20 spaces totaling 30,000 square feet dedicated to private functions, special events, and meetings.

Students from different schools of the university contributed to the hotel’s project. This includes Schools of Architecture, Fine Arts, Photography, and Interaction & UX/UI Design. View more on Instagram

According to an article by, “The Open News,” Dr. Elisa Stephens, president of the Academy of Art University said the launch showcased the students’ talents.

“We couldn’t be more proud to showcase the evocative and inspiring talents of the Academy’s students within Hyatt Regency’s remarkable new hotel,” said Stephens.

The hotel’s director of sales and marketing, Mark Benefield-Tuten, said it was an honor to showcase the students’ talents.

A few notable artists are alumni Tirda Aghakhani, alumna Claire Nitchman, former student Alana Burke Colville, and alumna Dora Duan. The list continues to alumni Ajin No, Benjamin Schindel, faculty Brandie Grogan, Herbert Martinez, and alumni Egor Rose. Their works ranged from media storytelling to photography to nature pieces, and beyond.

Academy of Art University has coursework that includes hands-on experience with an industry-based curriculum for creatives, artists, and designers. Students can choose from over 120 accredited degree options.
