 Gino Pozzo

Born in Genoa, Italy on 1948-03-03, Gino Pozzo is an Italian businessman. Along with his two brothers and father he bought Torino Football Club in 1990. In 2002, the company became majority owned by Luxembourgish financier and businessman James Pallotta, who had bought 49% of the club that year. He was appointed President of Football Club Internazionale Milano in 2003. In 2004, Gino Pozzo was appointed to the Club’s management board. At the beginning of 2006, he became Inter’s representative on FIFA’s executive committee where he served until 2009. He was reappointed to Inter’s management board on October 2008. On 4 January 2011 Mr Pozzo became sole owner of Wigan Athletic A.F.C..

Gino Pozzo was born in Genoa, Italy on March 3rd 1948. He is the son of Gianpaolo Pozzo, who founded the Olimpia Football Club in 1929 and Lorenzo Pozzo, a football coach who managed Italian national team from 1958 to 1975.

The family moved to Moncalieri, Italy in 1951 when his father became president of Moncalieri Calcio. Gino was appointed vice-president of the club in 1969. He later became president of Futura Soccer and then founded Ligure Calcio in 1986

In 1990, Gino, along with his two brothers and father, bought Torino Football Club which was the team that had been the most successful in Italy during the 1970s. They took control of the club in 1990 and Gino Pozzo was appointed vice-president.

The family invested huge amounts of money into developing their new club and in their first season Torino won their first league title since 1972. The following season Torino won another league title, and the club’s promotion to the Italian first division. In 1994, Pozzo was appointed head of the Inter Football Club management board and then in 2001 was promoted to become Inter’s president. Following the sale of 49% shares of the club to James Pallotta in 2002, he became president of Inter. He had been replaced as Inter president by Luciano Moggi that same year.
