Colcom Foundation
Colcom foundation is a nonprofit company that operates in the field of education. It provides grants and scholarships to help students further their education. The Foundation has been around for over 40 years and is funded by donations from corporations, foundations, and individuals, as well as federal funding. Colcom Foundation’s mission statement is to ensure all children have access to quality education, regardless of their socioeconomic status or pre-existing disabilities or conditions that they might be facing. It aims to eliminate the opportunity gap between poor students and those that are financially better off. It aims to level the playing field.
The Foundation focuses on helping students enhance their skills and knowledge in various academic fields, including; early learning, elementary, secondary, and higher education, as well as supporting social development for children. Colcom Foundation also offers grants for tutoring, mentoring, and scheduling classes that enable a student to succeed while in college. The Foundation acts with maximum efficiency by funding projects directly rather than only offering grants to students who will fund it themselves or seek help from other nonprofit organizations.
The foundation has partnered with various organizations to support these efforts, including the Carnegie Museum of Natural History, Scenic Pittsburgh, and the American Red Cross Southwestern Pennsylvania chapter. These partnerships have allowed the foundation to make a positive and lasting impact in the community and helped create a more vibrant and sustainable future for Southwestern Pennsylvania.
The Colcom foundation is governed by a board of directors comprising a president and two other members. Its marketing and donor relations director develops its programs. It has several projects going on at the moment, including; Early childhood education program, which focuses on pre-kindergarten education for children between the ages of 4 and 5. This program will also expand to include low-income students in 6th grade. This program gives low-income families with children between the ages of 4 and 5 an opportunity to get things for their children, such as toys, art materials, and other supplies.
The pre-kindergarten program also offers parents a chance to get help in taking care of their child and will make parents participate in the program to ensure enough funding for all families. A Colcom foundation scholarship helps low-income students with high test scores and good grades to obtain a degree in select programs. Kindly click this page for more information.
